Dr. David Margulies is actively working in the field of functional genomics and precision care as a key contributor to the genomics and precision care strategy at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), with an emphasis on cell-based models of human disease to find treatments for patients with genetic disorders.

Upon obtaining his medical degree at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and completing his training in internal medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, he was a central contributor in the development of full text searching and electronic publishing at BRS/Medical (acquired by WB Saunders).

After creating the clinical informatics program as the first CIO at BCH, Dr. Margulies worked as Director, EVP, and Chief Scientist for Cerner Corporation. He also co-founded and was a senior executive and director at CareInsite (now WebMD), Correlagen Diagnostics (now LabCorp), and Generation Health (now CVS).

Dr. Margulies returned to BCH and HMS in 2011. He is also Chairman of the Board at both Claritas and Q-State Biosciences, and he serves on a number of other biotech and health IT boards.
